If a dog is small-animal aggressive (strong prey drive) will she attack her own pups?

I doubt a dog would attack her pups while they nurse on her, but I mean if she sees them, perhaps 4 weeks old, running or crawling around, would she go after them, if she already has eaten/killed/chased small animals before, possibly chased small dogs? Or is it something with puppies how they yip or smell that makes dogs not want to attack them? (This isn't my dog I'm talking about; my dog is just a spayed mutt)
